Débordements
Engramme, Quebec, 2013
In the exhibition Débordements, presented at Engramme, Quebec, in September 2013, the inks on polyester films were produced according to the dimensions of the gallery windows, which they partly occupy. With this installation created specifically for the location, I wanted to produce an overflow effect, to give the impression that the ink is seeping into the gallery through the windows, and at the same time that it is retained by their borders.
The video projection that completes the installation presents the movements of the black ink wash, echoing the inks in the display cases. However, there is no correspondence : video is essentially a sensory experience dominated by slow movements of shadows and lights, rhythms and textures. The reference to lithography here becomes a pretext to take a sensitive look at temporality, matter, light and space.
